My
Story

Why a podcast on preeclampsia?

Before babies, I’d dedicated my life to making TV. While I originally set out to make audiences wet themselves laughing on shiny floor studio shows, I actually found my calling in the newsroom, working on some of the UK’s biggest current affairs programmes. I think what pulled me in was my endlessly curious nature—and a love for finding out everything I could about, well, everything.

So when I was diagnosed with preeclampsia on the day my first baby was due, my curious nature kicked in. I wanted to understand why. Then, when I ended up on the neonatal ward with my second baby, I was even more determined to find out more about this condition that had affected the majority of mothers I spent three weeks alongside. I wasn’t satisfied with the lack of answers from the doctors and I knew I wasn’t the only one who felt that way.
